THE COURSE
|
The most urgent job for the new Club was the laying out of the course.
David Adams was hired to design the course for a fee of five guineas, the plans to be finished by the 28th November 1908. Although no details of progress are recorded, the Secretary was instructed on the 18th December 1908 to advertise the opening of the 9-hole course in the Glasgow evening papers.
The Committee worked hard to extend the course to 18 holes as quickly as possible and following an inspection tour in September 1909 it was agreed that it would be better to postpone play over 18 holes until the spring of 1910, the finished course was measured in 1911 at 5281 yards with a par of 76.
